Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project (TRTP) is the first major transmission project in California being constructed specifically to access multiple renewable generators in a remote renewable-rich resource area. TRTP segments 4 to 11 would include new and upgraded electric transmission lines and substations between eastern Kern County and San Bernardino County. The first phase of the project, TRTP Segments 1-3 were approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) in March 2007 and construction is now underway.
California has one of the most aggressive renewable energy programs in the country today. The state is first in the nation to set a mandate that renewable energy accounts for 20 percent of customers’ energy supply by 2010. SCE is fully committed to reaching this goal and is working to utilize new renewable energy sources to provide power to our customers across the state.

A series of new and upgraded transmission facilities equaling 250 miles (spanning an area of approximately 173 miles) to deliver electricity from renewable wind energy generators in Kern County south through Los Angeles County and east to the existing Mira Loma Substation in Ontario, San Bernardino County.Communities potentially affected:
- Kern County: Tehachapi, unincorporated areas including Rosamond, Mojave
- Los Angeles County: Altadena, Baldwin Park, Diamond Bar, Duarte, El Monte, Hacienda Heights, Industry, Irwindale, Lancaster, La Canada Flintridge, La Habra Heights, Monrovia, Montebello, Monterey Park, Palmdale, Pasadena, Rosemead, Rowland Heights, San Gabriel, Whittier, unincorporated areas including Avocado Heights, Antelope Acres, Leona Valley, Vincent, Quartz Hill
- San Bernardino County: Chino, Chino Hills, Ontario
