Ethnic Trade Organization and Chamber Involvement
As part of our supplier diversity outreach efforts, Southern California Edison (SCE) supports a wide array of organizations that promote the growth and development of diverse business enterprises (DBEs). Our participation ranges from providing ethnic trade organizations and chambers with guidance and financial support to in-kind donations and services to leverage development and success of DBEs. For example, SCE partnered with the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) for a grant to fund its PEAK Leadership Program. This program taught courses on the process of innovative problem solving for women business owners. Additionally, SCE also partnered with the Southern California Minority Development Council as an advisor of their development DBE Mentor Protégé Program. We also take part in a number of events to identify qualified DBEs for business opportunities with SCE and offer programs to help them grow and prosper. Our efforts have not only led to increased procurement opportunities with diverse businesses, but also recognition from a variety of organizations.
